The price of a car battery in Dubai, and the car battery price in the UAE generally, depends on five things above all: the battery’s size and capacity, its technology, the brand, the work included in fitting it, and the length of the warranty. Two quotes that look very different are often for two quite different batteries or services, so the useful question is less “how much is a battery” and more “what exactly is included in this price”.
This guide explains each factor in plain terms, shows you how to compare quotes from different suppliers on equal terms, and lists the warning signs of a battery that is cheap for the wrong reasons.
What decides the price of a car battery in the UAE
1. Size, capacity and cranking power
Batteries are built in standard case sizes (JIS for most Japanese and Korean cars, DIN for most European cars, and BCI group sizes for many American vehicles). Within those sizes, two numbers drive cost:
- Capacity in amp-hours (Ah). How much energy the battery stores. A small hatchback may use a battery in the 35 to 50 Ah range, while large SUVs and luxury cars can need 80 to 105 Ah or more.
- Cold cranking amps (CCA). How much current the battery can deliver to start the engine. Diesel engines and large petrol engines need higher CCA.
More lead and more plates mean a higher price. The right capacity is whatever the manufacturer specifies for your car. Going smaller to save money makes the battery work harder and shortens its life, particularly in summer.
2. Battery technology: flooded, EFB or AGM
This is often the biggest single difference between two quotes.
| Technology | Relative cost | Which cars need it |
|---|---|---|
| Flooded (maintenance-free) | Lowest | Cars without start-stop or regenerative braking |
| EFB (Enhanced Flooded) | Middle | Entry-level start-stop cars |
| AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) | Highest | Advanced start-stop, regenerative braking, most modern German and luxury cars |
If your car came with an AGM battery, a quote for a flooded battery in the same size is not a cheaper version of the same thing. It is the wrong battery, and it will usually fail early. Our explainer on AGM vs EFB vs flooded batteries shows how to tell which type your car uses.
3. Brand tier
Battery brands sold in the UAE fall roughly into three groups:
- Premium European and original-equipment brands, which supply carmakers directly and usually carry the highest price.
- Established Korean, Indian, Japanese and American brands, which offer strong value and are widely used in the region.
- Economy and unbranded batteries, which are cheapest but vary a lot in quality and warranty support.
A well-made mid-tier battery in the correct specification often outlasts a premium battery of the wrong type. For an honest look at the main names, see our comparison of the best car battery brands in the UAE, or browse all battery brands we fit.
4. Registration and coding on German and European cars
Many BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche and Land Rover models use a battery management system. After a new battery goes in, the car needs to be told, using a diagnostic tool, so it charges the new battery correctly. If the battery type or capacity changes, it has to be coded too. Some suppliers include this in the price, some charge for it separately, and some skip it. Skipping it can shorten the new battery’s life. German car battery replacement should always include this step where the car needs it.
5. Battery location and labour
A battery under the bonnet of a Japanese sedan takes minutes to change. A battery under the boot floor, beneath a seat or behind panels takes longer and needs more care, including a memory saver on some cars to keep settings while the battery is out. Where labour is charged separately, harder access means a higher bill.
6. Warranty length and terms
Warranty is not just a number of months. Check:
- How long it lasts. The batteries we fit carry up to 24 months warranty, depending on brand and type.
- Whether it is a straight replacement or a pro-rata discount that shrinks with time.
- Whether the supplier comes to you for a warranty claim or expects you to bring the car in.
- What voids it, such as a faulty alternator or physical damage.
A longer, simpler warranty is part of what you are paying for.
7. Delivery, fitting and old battery collection
Some quotes cover the battery only. Others include delivery to your location, fitting, terminal cleaning, a charging-system check and taking the old battery away for recycling. Some shops reduce the price when you hand over your old battery, because it has scrap value. Make sure two quotes treat these items the same way before comparing them. With our service, delivery and fitting at your location are free.
8. Time of day and urgency
Some providers add a surcharge for late-night or emergency calls. Ask before you confirm. A service that runs 24/7 at one rate saves surprises when the battery dies at 2am in a mall car park.
What a replacement quote includes
The battery price and the replacement cost are not the same number. The battery price is what the unit itself costs on the shelf. The car battery replacement cost in Dubai is the battery plus everything needed to get it working properly in your car. When people search for the cost of car battery replacement, the second figure is the one that matters, because a cheap battery with nothing included can end up costing more once the extras are added.
A complete replacement quote should cover:
- Delivery. Bringing the battery to your home, office or parking spot. Some suppliers charge a call-out fee; ours is free. If you buy a car battery online in Dubai, check that delivery and fitting are included rather than charged separately.
- Fitting. Removing the old battery, cleaning the terminals and tray, fitting the new one with a secure hold-down, and using a memory saver where the car needs it. Fitting is free with our service.
- Coding and registration. On many German and European cars the new battery must be registered with a diagnostic tool, and coded if its type or capacity changes. A quote that leaves this out understates the real replace car battery cost on those cars.
- Testing. Checking the new battery’s voltage before fitting, then the alternator’s charging voltage and the starter draw once it is in. Free battery testing comes with every visit, so you know the problem was the battery and not the charging system.
- Old battery disposal. Taking the old battery away for recycling. Lead-acid batteries should never go in household waste, and a good supplier handles this as part of the job.
- Warranty. The written terms for the new battery, up to 24 months with us depending on brand and type.
The brand you choose changes the battery price but not the list above. A Varta AGM for a German car, an Amaron for a Japanese sedan or an ACDelco for an American SUV should each come with the same delivery, fitting, testing and disposal. When you compare quotes, compare the full replacement cost, not just the battery price.
How to compare car battery quotes fairly
Treat every quote as a list of items, not one number. Before you compare, make sure each quote states:
- Exact battery specification. Brand, model or range, case size, Ah, CCA and technology (flooded, EFB or AGM).
- Manufacturing date. Ask for the date code or a photo of it.
- What fitting includes. Delivery, fitting, terminal cleaning, alternator check, registration or coding where needed.
- Old battery handling. Taken away for recycling, and whether it changes the price.
- Warranty. Length, type (replacement or pro-rata) and how claims are handled.
- Any extra charges. Night call-outs, access fees, coding fees.
When two quotes match on all six, the price comparison is meaningful. When they do not, the cheaper one is usually missing something.
Red flags when a battery seems too cheap
Old stock
Batteries slowly lose charge on the shelf, and storage in a hot warehouse speeds that up. A battery made long before it is sold may already have lost some capacity. Ask for the date code and prefer one made within the last few months.
Missing or scratched-off date code
Every legitimate battery carries a manufacturing date somewhere on the case or label. If it is missing, covered or scratched off, walk away.
“Refurbished” or “reconditioned” batteries
Some sellers recharge used batteries, clean the case and sell them as new or nearly new. A battery that has already been through UAE summers has lost capacity that charging cannot restore. If the label looks worn, the terminals are scarred or the price is far below every other quote, be suspicious.
Wrong technology or undersized capacity
A flooded battery quoted for a start-stop car, or a smaller Ah rating than your car specifies, makes the price look attractive and the battery fail early.
Vague warranty
“Warranty available” without a stated period, type and claim process is not much of a warranty.
No voltage or load test at fitting
A reputable technician checks the new battery’s voltage before fitting it and tests the alternator afterwards. If a quick car battery test is not part of the job, you have no proof the new battery is healthy or that the charging system will not damage it.
How to get an exact price
The fastest way to get a firm price is to send us a WhatsApp message with your car’s make, model and year, or a clear photo of the label on your current battery showing its size code and Ah and CCA ratings. The technician confirms the correct battery for your car, gives you an exact price including fitting, and tells you which brands are in stock in that size. You can also look up your vehicle in our list of car makes we cover, or read common questions about warranty, payment and fitting on our FAQ page.
Once you have agreed, a technician drives to your home, office or parking spot and completes the car battery replacement in Dubai on site, with the old battery taken away for recycling. The total car battery replacement cost in Dubai that you agreed on WhatsApp is what you pay. Payment can be made by card, cash, Tabby or Tamara.
