Ford battery replacement in Dubai
Ford models in the UAE, especially the F-150, Explorer, Expedition and Mustang, use American BCI group or DIN-style batteries rather than the JIS sizes common on Japanese cars. Trucks and large SUVs need strong cranking capacity for big EcoBoost V6 and V8 engines, and start-stop versions require AGM. We carry H6, H7, group 65 and 94R batteries and reset the battery monitoring system after fitting.

American cars and BCI group sizes
US-built cars and trucks use BCI group sizes such as 48 (H6), 49 (H8), 65 and 94R (H7). Big V8s and full-size SUVs need high cold-cranking amps and reserve capacity.
- Desert trips with the AC running and accessories plugged in drain more than city use.
- Some heavy-duty trucks carry two batteries that should be replaced as a pair.
- Newer GM and Ford models have a battery monitor that benefits from a reset after fitting.
- Top-post and side-post terminals are not interchangeable without adapters.
Ford batteries: notes from our technicians
- 01
The F-150 and Expedition commonly use a group 65 or H7/94R battery, and trucks with Auto Start-Stop need AGM.
- 02
Explorer and Edge models typically take an H6 or H7 battery, AGM on start-stop versions.
- 03
Many Fords have a Battery Monitoring System (BMS) sensor on the negative terminal, which should be reset after replacement so the charging strategy starts fresh.
- 04
The Mustang battery sits under the bonnet close to hot engine components, which shortens its life on V8 cars during summer.
If the Battery Monitoring System is not reset after a new battery goes in, the truck can keep showing start-stop as unavailable and charge the battery as if it were worn until the system slowly relearns.

Ford battery questions
Question not here? Send a message and a technician answers, not a bot.
What battery size does a Ford F-150 use?
Most recent F-150s use a BCI group 65 or an H7/94R battery, with AGM required on trucks that have Auto Start-Stop. The technician checks your engine, year and current battery before fitting the matching size.
Do I need a BMS reset after changing a Ford battery?
It is recommended on Fords with a Battery Monitoring System. The reset tells the car a new battery is fitted, so start-stop and charging work correctly straight away, and our technicians do it as part of the job.
Does the Ford Explorer need an AGM battery?
Explorers with Auto Start-Stop need an AGM battery, usually in an H6 or H7 size. Older Explorers without start-stop can use a quality flooded battery of the correct group size.
How long does a Ford battery last in the UAE?
In UAE conditions a Ford battery typically lasts 2–3 years. Heat, short trips and long periods parked shorten that, so we recommend a test once the battery passes two years.
Ford battery flat?
The nearest technician is usually 20–35 minutes away, day or night, across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
