What do I need to do after an accident before recovery?
Call the police on 999, or use the Dubai Police app for a minor accident in Dubai, and wait for their instructions before moving the car. UAE garages need a police report before they can repair accident damage, so keep a copy. Once the scene is cleared, the flatbed can take the car to your insurer's garage or a workshop you choose.
Can you recover a car from the desert?
Yes, from desert and off-road areas that a recovery truck or 4x4 can reach safely. Share a live location pin and photos of how the car is sitting, since a car sunk to its sills needs different kit from one that has only lost traction. Stop revving a bogged car, because it digs in deeper and can overheat the clutch or gearbox.
Why use a flatbed instead of towing on the wheels?
Many automatic and all-wheel-drive cars should not be moved with their driven wheels turning, as it can damage the gearbox or transfer case. A flatbed carries the whole car, which also protects low bumpers and is the only safe way to move a car with damaged wheels or suspension after a crash.
