Mazda battery replacement in Dubai
Mazda models in the UAE, including the CX-5, CX-9, CX-30, Mazda3 and Mazda6, mostly carry the battery under the bonnet, but cars with i-stop need a specific idling-stop battery. Fitting the wrong type is the most common mistake on Mazdas, because i-stop simply switches off and the battery wears out early. Our technicians identify the correct battery and fit it at your home or office.

Mazda batteries: notes from our technicians
- 01
Mazdas with i-stop use Japanese idling-stop batteries such as Q-85 or S-95 types, which are built for frequent restarts.
- 02
Versions without i-stop take a standard JIS battery, commonly in the B24 to D26 range.
- 03
Some Mazda6 versions with i-ELOOP use a capacitor to store braking energy; it works alongside the battery and does not replace it.
- 04
The CX-60 and CX-90 introduce mild-hybrid systems with an additional battery, so the technician checks the exact setup before fitting.
Reading a Japanese (JIS) battery code
Most Japanese cars use JIS-sized batteries with codes like 55D23L or 80D26R. The code tells you everything the technician needs.
- The first number is a performance rank, not the Ah. Higher means more starting power.
- The letter (B, D, E…) is the width and height class of the case.
- The next two digits are the length in centimetres.
- L or R tells you which side the positive terminal sits on. Getting it wrong means the cables will not reach.
After a battery replacement, i-stop can stay inactive until the car finishes a learning period, and on some models the battery state has to be reset with a diagnostic tool before it works again.

Mazda battery questions
Question not here? Send a message and a technician answers, not a bot.
Does a Mazda with i-stop need a special battery?
Yes. i-stop models need an idling-stop battery such as a Q-85 or S-95 type, which is an EFB design. A regular battery fits physically but cannot cope with the constant restarts, and i-stop stops working.
Where is the battery on a Mazda CX-5?
The CX-5 battery is under the bonnet at a front corner of the engine bay, held by a clamp and partly covered. It is easy to reach, so a battery replacement at home usually takes 15–20 minutes.
Why is i-stop not working after my Mazda battery change?
i-stop waits until the system has learned the new battery and the charge level is high enough. If it stays off after several drives, either the battery type is wrong or the battery state needs resetting with a diagnostic tool, and our technicians can check both.
How long does a Mazda battery last in the UAE?
In UAE conditions a Mazda battery typically lasts 2–3 years. Heat, short trips and long periods parked shorten that, so we recommend a test once the battery passes two years.
Mazda battery flat?
The nearest technician is usually 20–35 minutes away, day or night, across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
