Is an overhaul better than replacing the gearbox?
An overhaul keeps the original unit and renews the worn internal parts, which suits most cars with a known history. A reconditioned replacement is quicker when the casing is cracked or internal parts are hard to source.
Can a worn gearbox mount really cause a clunk?
Yes. Mounts hold the engine and gearbox in place, and once the rubber cracks in the heat the whole unit moves when you change direction, which you feel as a knock or jolt.
Do you work on manual pickups and older 4x4s?
